A Wildlife Habitat Like No Other

Discover the rare and beautiful wildlife of Australia’s outback.

Several kilometres of self-guided walking trails explore the Reserve, with maps and species lists available at the Visitor Centre. Wildlife on the lagoons is best enjoyed from hand crafted timber canoes or relaxing on the guided boat tours which run daily.

The ever popular Sunset Reserve Safari offers some excellent wildlife viewing into the heart of the Reserve, with wine and cheese and an outback sunset. Binoculars, information, refreshments and facilities are all available at the award-winning Visitor Centre on the banks of Clancy’s Lagoon.

How to Visit

The Reserve lies just to the north of Mareeba, only an hour from Cairns or Port Douglas. Take the Pickford Road turnoff from Biboohra, 7kms north of Mareeba on the Peninsula Development Road. Look out for wildlife as you enjoy a drive through the Reserve to the Visitor Centre.

Jabiru Safari Lodge - Outback With A Touch Of Class!

Jabiru Safari Lodge, established for visiting researchers and Conservancy members, may also be used by visitors to the Reserve. Guests can enjoy the comfort of safari style tents in the heart of the Australian bush.
